St. Pete, "Police State"
~ And I know that you do not even want to think about this
The police can be very nasty.
Not the rock band, so much, but an armed group, also called the police, who frequently try to intimidate the population. There are usually no witnesses for the interactions with the police on the street. Some try to fix (rectify) it by the use of “body cams,” but the cameras do not make the police into nicer guys. And neither does calling a moderately talented rock band “The Police” nullify another version of “The Police.” There is, as well, a distinction between the police as described in, Say a civics textbook and as the sorts of things that occur in real life. This matter of police misbehavior is depressing. Yup — and we do not want not talk about it. Yet if you only resort to complacency, the police will do it again: they are still wandering around out there seeking to fulfill what I find to be a fantasy, or a desire to totally dominate some other person.
There were, in the 80s and 90s, persons in Russia called the “dissidents.” They were often locked up, for years.
In the Pinellas Co. jail they now hand each inmate (I was number 2026834) a personal table, an electronic communications device.
Except there are defects in all complex system, and these especially tend to not work well. It seem one can make phone calls from this tablet. It is -in theory -we must clarify that this is the theory -the link to the outside world. Nobody likes them. Mine never worked. Well, I got on-line a little bit the first few times, but then it always bounced back to the sign-in page and I could not even get the thing to work at all (It does have some Mark Twain books from the “Guttenberg Project.” The phone calls (except for two free ones on SATURDAYS) cost money. Now how do I put money on my tablet? Only an outside person can. An inmate cannot transfer money onto it; that would need to be done by somebody else, on the outside.
Wait. Didn’t Kafka write about this? Hmmmmm… There do exist free calls. These are to bail bondsmen. I tried that as well. I have little patience…. with all this. All these details you know. I simply do not have time. I have a lot of work to do before my trial (first I’ll need a lawyer).
It is difficult to discuss, and the story is that cops entrapped me into declining to show my ID; I was subsequently cuffed, taken to lock-up. I took me three days to “self-bail.” IDK why
-END-

Much the same here. Ever since Laval University expelled me for wanting to study COVID-19 lockdown measures, I’ve been publishing my analyses on so-called conspiracy platforms. Some say scientific publications are no longer trusted. I just keep writing to keep my mind sharp... until the end. - Luc
