I looked again at all the duels. It is on the "Esky.com" link. Only one is not in the nineteenth century (or close, I am not saying I am sure, okay?) and that one is not really a duel, it is the story of a gladiator in ancient Rome. So dueling is a recent phenomenon, a way people have of (I suppose) working things out in capitalistic societies or societies ending their days as aristocratic societies and beginning the transition to the next phase, capitalist or (in the case of Russia) socialist/Left.
