Capitalism is a fever that has burned right through us. What is left? They let capitalism run rampant, and now we are hollow: burned right through. They hoped it would “self-regulate.” But it was never going to do that; and, it didn’t. So the miracle did not happen, capitalism didn’t self-regulate, and now we are this hollow shell. Nothing is left of us—we are now hollow inside and our minds don’t work.
We are a has-been as a country if we could not regulate capitalism as we needed to do—and as a country. The free market theorists were just wrong. They had the wrong theory. Ideas were pushed, and we may evaluate those ideas now. They said there is an “inner hand,” and it works automatically, and you don’t need to do anything. It is like saying the machinery is working; you must leave it alone: no need to touch it. The inner hand will just work — all by itself. This is a poor theory. But it is all we had because nobody ever gave us anything else. This is what we heard from all the economists. Except, naturally, the Marxists. A.k.a. Them.
The general situation was that Americans believed society, or human cohesiveness, was not a factor and so instead there was this theory that everything takes care of itself. If it takes care of itself without further intervention, that is “market self-regulation,” assuming such a thing could exists at all. Of course, they don’t need to explain it, because you see it is “automatic” and magical. So . . .
So now that it is not working, we know it. We can see this. This is now clear to most intelligent people including the ones I disagree with. If it is clear, what options are there? I suppose they could admit they were wrong, but that is the least likely scenario of them all. They are not capable of it. They wouldn’t or couldn’t revisit their whole career like that. In order to feel that they will be not ruined they will just hold onto what they know. Not sure what they know, but I think that in order to not be ruined they will just hold onto what they know. They are now intellectually homeless. The always depended on one theory; that theory is not working, obviously. They have got to now come up with something else. They have now lost this pretense of being the great knowledgeable Ones. We have a right to ask whether they ever knew much at all. About economics. There were conceptual problems there, but they did not care. But this is a matter for intellectual history to deal with. Still, it is amazing. They thought it would be alright! Everything they ever feared is at their doorstep. They cannot admit they were wrong: too scared.
They now become complete ideological brain salad. These persons are characterized by an excessive belief in themselves. They are not going to change.
Their story was the fascinating story of humanity in search of profit. Bleh- who needs them?
Capitalism is not working for anybody anymore. Elites are scared shit less.
“We have to release a killer virus. It’s the only way.” I cannot imagine what they are thinking. Certainly not that. But they have no clue.
Because, no, social reform is not going to occur to them. They never took that path so their “social reform” is: “less people.” This is a desperate move. From persons of limited compassion.
But which of us has perfect compassion —

I had to edit this, Libor. Also I am now of the belief that I must be more careful. What one says matter and I am not being cautious enough, about what to put up on here so I now am having regrets and realize I need to get my words straight and not just put anything onto the platform. Even if it is "only" little old Substack!
