These people are phonies.
extended family in idyllic [‘X’], England, (a small village) not far from Oxford. She has a beautiful country home, complete with chickens! (Joyce Vance, I’m channeling you.)
I will use quotes. My conventions: brackets mean it is coming from outside in order to use a replacement for the original words. However, parentheses are used more loosely (maintaining honesty). In the above quote the first parenthetical is something that l used to “blur” the village. But in the second one, about Joyce Vance (Substack writer) was not me. That one was done by the quoted author, Jay Kuo (also a Substack writer of course).
So, Jay Kuo is showing us how he copies. They copy one another. That is showing up.
Authoritarians gain power by (destroying …)
They need enemies. But the term changes. Now , instead of saying “the bourgeois,” or “the communists”, it is “authoritarians” that is used.
It is very easy for him (Jay Kuo) to say all of these things because he is, after all, securely ensconced in a big social lie. And since he is a liar himself, the vast network will passively support his journalistic efforts. For example: in Nazi Germany, if you were on the side of Hitler, you would be completely secure. Your security is assured. You have nothing to worry about. And now the same people in Germany are most emphatically against Hitler. You can change the concept of who the enemy is but it is absolutely necessary to have an enemy.
The GOP is wondering collectively whether to obey in advance or to push back so that they have some role other than as 53-member rubber stamp.
Why default to “collectively”? Why the added detail about what the GOP is? What does this matter—? ~ they could either think collectively or individually. Somehow, it adds something to say “collectively,” or the Substack author believed it did. How does the GOP thinks?
“collectively.” But then they are already a rubber stamp. And if they do decide to “push back”, would that be collective, or would they then become individualists? But, for Kuo, they need somehow to be collective. In Kuo’s next paragraph we are told about some helpful individual who has
provided a script you can use / revise when contacting your senator about Gaetz
Well, let’s give Kuo a break. If you revise it maybe you are not being a rubber stamp. But, if you don’t—? You are?
p.s. honestly, these reviews of others’ work are very difficulty intellectually!!!!#
