Competence
~a short, funny piece about being alive. In these times

They only hire you if you have a certain degree of competence. But I couldn’t appreciate it until recently. Now I suddenly see what I did not see before. I seem to have a blind spot, as regards this issue. Competence. I have had trouble understanding competence. I am just not sensitive to that. Now I see that it exists. So sorry…
My greatest feature is not competence. It is creativity. I am so creative. It is like nothing you ever saw. What I have to show for this fecundity—? ~ not much. A few Substack articles apparently written by a dingbat. I’m working on it and do not rush me! My process has got to get working, soon. (I just recently got some writing advice from someone. So things are definitely looking up!)
Well, anyways. I am the artistic type. This means I want a metaphor for being itself. I understood GWF Hegel as soon as I saw his thick books. “Ah, a systematizer,” thought I; I got it. I didn’t need to read it; I understood right away that this was a person who was trying to reduce all of organized human existence into a system. (Later, when I tried actually reading him—? ~ no; That didn’t improve it!)
But in any case I would rather not be in a silo. (That was Groucho’s word of the day so I italicized.) I’m about as stable as a mousetrap. I’m ready to spring, but when I do, I stumble. As I point out in the pinned article here, I do not smooth out the wrinkles: I make more of them.

Where was I? Well, since I am Autistic (that was my word of the day so I capitalized it) person I do not interface with others well or not in the normal way. And conversations rarely do go well.
Here my notes suddenly change topics; I have no idea what is going on (but the word “silo” came back!…)
Persons are only interested in their own groups. Professionals have groups.
I’m telling people about it. The intellectuals take care of whatever intellectual group they belong to, and the working class takes care of its turf, too. What type of a social environment is it? It is capitalist. The society we live in underwrites certain sorts of behaviors. Persons care only about they own group (silo?).
If you like “business administration,” go there, stay for a whole career. But the same goes for truck driving, where you is a “King of duh Road.”
(Sorry, I had earlier thought the song was about truck driving; I just read the lyrics, it isn’t. It is about some idiot who lives in a rented room, nothing I am familiar with.)
Persons (now “persons” is better than people so don’t give me a hard time, editors) seem to be very efficiently partitioned off into their silos, but it is a world coming apart. Yep—it is professional class becoming incompetent.
It’s a “Good Time Charlie” genre song!

THE END

If you aren't starving, and living indoors, what more do you have to do? Sleep, exercise, nutrition, hydration, conscious breathing...and enormous gratitude to be sitting where you are sitting. Beyond that, well, I believe want beyond need is a curable mental problem, that I must manage all the time. Listen harder to your gut, and to the wind in the trees. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
